About:
The Irish Air Corps acquired two Miles Martinets (144 and 145) in July 1946.
The Martinet was designed from the outset to tow targets for this class of fighter and was the logical choice. Most of its structure and systems were identical to the Miles Master II which was already in service with the Air Corps.
One Martinet (144) was written off in May 1952, the other (145) soldiered on until December 1958 when it became a ground instructional airframe.
