About:
The Gloster Gladiator entered Irish service in March 1938. Four aircraft were delivered (No.23-26) and were initially assigned the the Army Co-operation Squadron. These were the first true fighter aircraft used by the Air Corps since the Martinsyde F.4 Buzzards in the twenties.
Two other batches of aircraft (27-30 and 53-60) were ordered but never delivered.
